The Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience, under the direction of Charles A. Nelson, Ph.D., seek one or more highly qualified postdoctoral scientists with an interest in neurodevelopment and primary expertise in EEG and related (e.g., evoked potential) methods although expertise in fNIRS would also be considered. The ideal candidate will also have the analytic/statistical skills to relate EEG and/or fNIRS data to a wealth of existing and to-be-collected behavioral data.

Eligible postdocs should have training in clinical or developmental psychology or developmental cognitive neuroscience, ideally with solid experience in neuroscience methods (particularly EEG, but possibly also fNIRS) and experience with young children. The postdoc will have the opportunity to engage in various studies, both domestic and international. This could include supervising and mentoring research coordinators/assistants and undergraduate students, extensive involvement in data processing and analysis, and correspondingly, involvement in manuscript preparation and grant writing. Again, expertise in EEG methodology is essential, including familiarity with EEG, evoked potentials, and event-related potentials; and on the analytic side, the ideal candidate will have experience in advanced signal processing, including time-frequency analysis, functional connectivity and/or cortical source analyses, and machine learning and/or other AI-based tools. A similar skill set for fNIRS is also essential. Prior programming experience is preferred, with a strong preference for familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python programming environment and associated toolboxes (e.g., EEGLAB/ERPLAB, Fieldtrip, MNE-Python).

This position is open for a start date as early as July 1st, 2021. A 2-year commitment is preferred. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Qualifications:
– Doctoral degree in clinical or developmental psychology, neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, with a history of research focused on neurodevelopment
– Experience conducting research with infants and/or children
– Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and research skills
– Experience with EEG/ERP/fNIRS
